Bowling Green (4, 5)
This FiDi stop gives you direct access to the Charging Bull, Battery Park, the Native American museum, Stone St, and FiDi in general.
Right outside this stop you may notice a line of people waiting to take pictures with a statue of a bull… and peculiarly, while touching it balls. What? Well, apparently it’s good luck. There’s usually also a line to take a photo with the bull’s head, too.
The open fields are dotted with chairs open to all. It’s a nice place for a picnic, and if you walk along the water, you can get views of the Statue of Liberty. There are a lot of small, plaque-style memorials throughout the park, and if you’re a biker, you may enjoy the station’s direct access to the Battery Bikeway.
The National Museum of the Indian American
It’s always free! No ticket required!
If you want a taste of 1700’s tavern-style New York, Fraunces Tavern has you covered. It has two parts: a bar, and a restaurant. There’s also a small, historical museum on the second floor. Around it are also a few nice bars and restaurants.
Stone St
(Between Coenties Alley and William St)
If you want food and drink options other than Fraunces Tavern, try Stone St. Is it touristy? Yes. But if you’re looking for a place to plonk down for a bit, particularly on a day when it’s nice to sit outside, Stone St has you covered.
