Forest Avenue (M)
Oh, Ridgewood, a community after my heart. Multicultural, multipolitical, quiet, and affordable—for now. Store owners are friendly, homeowners and renters take pride in their stoops, and a lot of the locals are artists with edgy piercings or kids on trikes.
To cowork with the artists, go to Nomad Cafe, Bakeri, or Topos Bookstore. For a cute gift shop, check out Stay Forever. The area is a historical eastern European hub, and that means you can easily access Polish food at Polska Piekarnia or Balkan food at Bosna Express, which are both located right below the subway tracks.
If you want to explore more of Ridgewood, try poking around Seneca Ave (M) or Fresh Pond Road (M).
