This stop has my favorite nightclub and … grocery store? It’s also a great stop for a Monday night date.

The Vibe around the Station

The station exits are at the center of daytime vintage shopping and nighttime partying. Walk down Starr or Troutman, between St. Nicholas Ave and Irving Ave, anytime between 7pm to 4am and you’ll find a bar or club or theater or restaurant that calls to you. Weirdly, the eponymous Jefferson St. is relatively dead.

Sidewalk vintage furniture shopping, right outside the station exit.

Art Scene

This stop has an arty vibe. Definitely check out the Bushwick Collective murals. Or enjoy live music at The Sultan Room, or a burlesque show at Company XIV.

My Favorite Nightclub

It’s House of Yes. If you could take the essence of glitter and channel it into a nightlife scene, this would be it.

A Monday Night Date

It can be hard to find a happening place on a Monday night in New York City. Starr and Troutman streets will give you more options than most other neighborhoods.

My Favorite Grocery Store

People say the best bodega is the closest one to you, but bro, I’d travel for Green Valley Gourmet Market on Knickerbocker. They have every shape of pasta, fresh produce, so many snacks, and, I know this is going to sound nuts, but the aisles are slightly more aesthetically pleasing than average grocery aisles?

If I’m cooking dinner, I’m going to Green Valley first.

Maria Hernandez Park

The Latinx community absolutely vibes out in Maria Bueno Park, with cookouts and well-attended volleyball games.
