Prince Street (R, W)

This stop brings you to the Big Brands part of SoHo, and the immediate area around the station feels a little more … touristy? car heavy? … compared to more vibey SoHo stops like Spring Street (6). But, don’t let that dissuade you.

The street vibes on Broadway right out of the station.

The Big Brands around here compete to lure you in. The Nike store will give you free coffee. The Converse store has a bunch of miniature art exhibits inside, and there’s a customizable shoe station for you to design a unique pair Chucks, some of which are available for same-day pick up.

I recommend you walk into any and all of the stores around here - even if you wouldn’t otherwise, even if you have no interest in shopping - just to see if they have something special going on, because they usually do. An art exhibit here, a free drink there … stores pull out all the stops (hahahaha, hahhaha) for their SoHo locations. I’d go to the Museum of Ice Cream only after you browsed the stores, because you may find you can skip the museum if the stores give you the arty fun you’re looking for.

The Converse store is waiting for you to take selfies, and basically offers you these little art alcoves for free whereas the Museum of Ice Cream will charge.

If you’re in the area, you may as well mosey off Prince and Broadway: east towards Spring Street (6), south for my favorite SoHo store 3NY, west towards Spring Street (C, E). Any of those directions will get you into that chicer, more classic SoHo vibe.
