This stop gives mainstream-cool vibes, erring on the side of wealth instead of grunge.

It’s the kind of area where the cafes and restaurants proudly display their New York Times reviews, because, well, these are the kinds of places that the New York Times reviews.

If you’re in the mood for trendy thrift store shopping (Beacon’s Closet, Life Boutique Vintage & Thrift), or dinner and a drink among the cool folks (SkyIce Thai Food & Ice Cream or anything around it) 5th avenue on the Park Slope side of this station is your best bet. I also love Midoriya Japanese Grocery, which is a great location for Japanese snacks, skincare, and teaware.

Midoriya, on 5th.

Flatbush Avenue in this part of town, sandwiched between the Barclay’s Center and Prospect Park, is also a busy thoroughfare with buzzy eateries and fun shops like Versailles. Sofreh Restaurant is one of those NYT-reviewed spots that I adore for a Persian meal, but you can also visit Sofreh Cafe for a hangout spot with unlimited refills on Iranian tea and their famous Latifeh!

Unless you’re looking to rent, buy, or take a residential walk, I’d skip going east into Prospect Heights from this stop, because it’s mostly warehouses and housing.

What did I miss? Scroll past the pics and let me know in the comments!

Inside Versailles on Flatbush. Project472 highly recommends you find an occasion to wear such a dress to.

Why yes, Cruz del Sur is also featured on the NYT.
