Lafayette Avenue (C)
This stop has community charm.
Depending on where you gopher out of the subway, you’ll either pop up with a view of the Commandante Biggie mural, or wind up at the entrance of one of Brooklyn’s best restaurants, Theodora. (But if it’s booked out, Forma Pasta Factory next door is also pretty good).
I spy the subway entrance!
Across the street from the Biggie mural is Greenlight Bookstore, which offers cool subscription services and events and always seems to have a local buzz about it.

Project472 is not religious, but will note anyway that the nearby Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church doubles as a social justice community center, and also has a wonderfully diverse gospel choir. If you can catch a concert here, do it. Or if you’re just generally spiritually inclined, it’s a nice community that I’m sure would be happy to have you.
If you’re around in summertime and want a fun outdoor drinking experience, I recommend Habana Outpost.
