Dyckman Street (A)
This stop brings you to a bustling Latinx, mostly Dominican, section of Inwood. There are some white folks peppered about, likely due to this station’s easy access to Inwood Park and The Met Cloisters.
My top recommendation around here is My Juice Box, which is basically a Dominican version of Joe and the Juice but half as expensive, twice as fresh, and infinitely more intimate. If you order a smoothie, the best part is when the lady behind the counter offers to top you off with whatever’s leftover in the blender after you’ve had a few sips. Delicious and eco-conscious!
When my husband asked the lady behind the counter at My Juice Box if the papaya for a smoothie was fresh, she looked insulted, because OF COURSE it’s fresh.
There are also a bunch of restaurants right outside the station that would make for a cute date night or family dinner out (like Mamajuana or Dyckman Bar and Kitchen) and sports pubs (like Tryon Public House or Bravo56) where you can catch a game solo or with friends.
For more of the Dominican vibe, walk along Dyckman street towards the Dyckman 1 Train Station.
For more of the gentrified, White vibe, walk along Broadway street northeast towards the Inwood-207 Street A Train Station, or, of course, go to The Cloisters.
