Fourth Avenue / Ninth Street (R, F, G)
Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’re about to find out where to get the best pie in New York City. It’s at Four & Twenty Blackbirds, on 3rd Ave in Gowanus, a short walk from the subway station.
The subway brings you to 4th ave, but in general you’ll either want to go west to 3rd for Gowanus, or east to 5th for Park Slope.
Gowanus
Gowanus street art.
With its cool-grunge vibes, Gowanus offers more than just the city’s best pie. It also has great street art among an industrial warehouse setting, and a diverse foodie and coffee culture community.
Only in Gowanus.
I recommend checking out Sweet Talk for Hawaiian food, and live music on Mondays.
Or, catch Bitches’ Brew, one of my favorite comedy shows that takes place weekly in the back of Halyards, a classic neighborhood bar with pool and darts.
Park Slope
The part of Park Slope accessible from this station feels a little more upscale than Gowanus, but a tad less gentrified than other parts of Park Slope (for example, north off Union Street R).
Casita, a tiny little cafe and wine bar close to the station on 11th street, is cute and worth a visit solo or with a friend.
Casita.
PIE. PIE. PIE. The interior is nice for sitting down with a book, friend, or laptop, too.
One more, why not.
