Hunts Point Avenue (6)
This station brings you to a vibrant commerce street, Southern Boulevard, serving the Afro-Latinx community. I recommend going into some of the shops here, even if they feel unfamiliar to you. Most don’t have any online presence (no website, no social media), which means if you want to know what’s going on, you just have to go in.

Visit the Southern Department Store. Why not?
For example, I walked into Forever Beauty Supply simply because the tall storefront window had so, so many wigs. I also got a bite to eat at La Giralda Bakery, though its specialty seems to lie in pre-order theme cakes.
Mesmerized by a wall of lashes.
Because I have the maturity of a thirteen-year-old, I’ll also mention that this station brings you to New Hoe Avenue Garden. It’s not really worth a visit, unless you need a photo with the sign for whatever reason.
Sorry, sorry.
If you stray off Southern Boulevard, you’ll find some quality street art and auto-industrial vibes. I also got the feeling that this area has a strong sense of community, at least from having passed by a fresh memorial.
May he rest in peace.
I observed no white people during my time around this station.
