Longwood Avenue (6)
This area is like the industrial part of Hunts Point. It’s got auto repair shops and truck weighing scales, big highway overpass energy, a meeting of many train tracks, and double-parking galore. It also may be gentrifying, as evidenced by some large residential buildings in construction, and some pretty brownstones lining a few of the non-industrial streets.

There is a total absence of white people here. I spent about half an hour wandering around in the vicinity of the station and did not spot a single apparent Caucasian. The vibe overall is Afro-Latina.
One thing that caught my eye off the station is the Police Athletic League, with the slogan, “The Best Friend A Kid Can Have.” It provides educational services and connection opportunities between youth and police officers. This isn’t something you can really visit, but it’s an interesting community presence nonetheless.
Idk man, my best friends growing up were not the police, and I thought they were pretty great.
I’d love to know more about the double parking system here … how does it work? I don’t know.
Can you catch that glimpse of Manhattan?
The food vibe around the station.
