Nassau Avenue (G)

This stop is worth a few hours of your time. It’s got my favorite plant shop, so many good eats, nightlife, quality thrift shopping, and an overall really cool Brooklyn vibe. It’s the home stop for many of New York’s best creatives.

In general, the main drag out here is Manhattan Avenue. Stroll down Manhattan towards Greenpoint (G) to take in the energy of the area. Or, weave through the smaller streets (Guernsey, Dobbin, etc.) heading north for a quieter vibe, where anything you stumble upon (Brooklyn Record Exchange, Dobbin Street Vintage Co-Op) feels like a little hidden gem.

The Thrift Scene

For fun clothing/jewelry/art finds: Seven Wonders Collective, Beacon’s Closet, Long Lost, Shop86, Awoke Vintage, Tired Thrift.

For larger bodies that crave vibrant fits: Plus BKLYN.

For fun furniture and art: Dobbin Street Vintage Co-Op.

The Gifts & Goods Scene

Brooklyn Record Exchange is a fun place for browsing. Souvenir is a colorful explosion of great gifts (reminds me of Friends NYC off Morgan L).

Uzuki, one of the most aesthetically lovely restaurants in New York City, also has a special pottery area in the back with items handcrafted by the restaurant’s chef.

I’m frankly shocked I didn’t purchase the New York coffee mug claw clip from Souvenir. Maybe you’ll snag it before I get a chance to go back!

The Food & Drink Scene

You can get everything from a deli sandwich to a Michelin meal out here. In order from basic to fancy, I recommend: Pueblo Querido (arty laptop and hangout cafe), Frankel’s Delicatessen, Blue Collar Burger, Acre, Salsa Pizza Napoletana, Nura, Uzuki, Restaurant Yuu. But that barely scratches the surface of options out here.

The Sweets Scene

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is an old-school Brooklyn classic. Go for a donut, stay at the counter to enjoy the local scene.

On the more modern side is Davey’s Ice Cream, which I’d describe as aesthetically fun. For its flagship location, you’ll need to go to the Lower East Side.

The Nightlife Scene

You can do anything from a drink to a full-send rave out here. From mild to wild, I recommend: Brooklyn Winery (chic, fancy), Ray’s (pub hang), Spritzenhaus33 (beer hall), Twins Lounge (hip place for a drink) Ponyboy (small disco ball rave) and Good Room (big discoball rave). Or catch an indie film at Film Noir Cinema. There are so many going-out options around here, I trust you’ll find your vibe.

My Favorite Plant Shop

It’s Tula House. I’m simply obsessed with it.
