Carroll Street (F, G)
This is a family-friendly residential neighborhood with cute restaurants, shops and cafes along Court Street and Smith Street, and brownstones in between. It’s just far enough from the bustle of Atlantic Avenue to feel relatively quiet, but just energetic enough to feel vibrant.

Around school start and end times, you’re likely to see kids running about, with some heading over to the Kumon that’s right outside the station.
Black-owned Liz’s Book Bar is my favorite gem off this stop. I love the books, and I love the bar.
In general, this is a great stop to bring your laptop or a book for some chill cafe time, or to have dinner or a drink with a friend, or to settle down and have children (LOL but it’s true).
Cubana Cafe on Smith Street.
Any restaurant or cafe around this station is likely to be nice yet approachable for the late twenties to early forties crowd. Try one and let me know how it goes in the comments!
